Launch of new Rural Newsletter and Website! Bleary Farmers Hall Management Committee have just launched their new rural community newsletter and website. Bleary Farmers’ Hall Management Committee is an independent body operating at a local level helping the Bleary rural community. The committee consists of Farmers’ Hall trustees and current office bearers of Bleary Young Farmers’ Club. The main aim of the Management Committee is to provide a rural facility adequate for the community needs and to encourage a flourishing and sustainable rural community.
The innovative project funded by CARD (Craigavon and The newsletter, appropriately named ‘Bleary Rural Update’ brings you up-to-date news and developments on local events, community groups, issues and rural affairs. The newsletter has been designed as a quick reference for those who wish to view events and especially for those who may not have internet access. The first edition takes an in depth analysis of Bleary Young Farmers’ Club, Ballydougan Patrchwork and Craft Group, Bleary and District Pipe Band, Ballydougan Indoor Bowling Club and Lurgan and District Horse and Cattle Show Society Ltd. All of these groups along with many others, utilise the Farmers’ Hall on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis. At the launch event, the chairman of the Farmers’ Hall, Mr William Robinson commented ‘that this was an excellent publication and he hoped that this would publicise the wide range of events and activities on offer in this area’. Another Committee member, Doreen Moffett also added ‘Great production! Congratulations go to John Harrison, for his effort and time on this.Bleary Farmers’ Hall Committee Public Relations Officer, Mr John Harrison, compiler of the ‘Bleary Rural Update’ commented that he ‘indeed was extremely happy with the first newsletter and hoped to see another edition in mid to late summer. This newsletter will hopefully showcase all of our activities within this hall.’ The newsletter is available in local businesses and also viewable on the website as below. In addition to the newsletter and as previously mentioned, Bleary Farmers’ Hall Management Committee have also unveiled a new website. The website forms a nucleus for many groups and clubs, namely The Management Committee, Bleary Young Farmers’ Club, Ballydougan Patchwork and Craft Group, Ballydougan Indoor Bowling Club, Bleary and District Pipe Band, Lurgan and District Horse and Cattle Show Society and Newmills Sporting and Gun Club. Further to individual group information, the website is also an invaluable source of information on local history such as the local weaving and linen industry, agriculture, local landmarks and it also offers a host of useful contacts ranging from local accommodation, local tourist attractions, agricultural links, rural youth sectors, schools and many more. The website also has a rural gallery of many local landscapes and features. In addition to this, there is also a dedicated photographic album, events calendar and documents section to many of the various groups that use the Farmers’ Hall. With Lurgan and District Horse and Cattle Show Society meeting in the Farmers’ Hall, the website will be used as the main site for hosting show activities. Assistant Public Relations Officer for the show, John Harrison has provided an individual dedicated section page for each of the show sections. At the launch John commented ‘The website can be used to download show schedules and also entry forms and in this way, the website should a great asset to the Show Committee and the forthcoming show on 7th June’.
